Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for the acquisition and provision of channel state information for a target cell early in the process of layer one/layer two inter-cell mobility are provided. For example, a method can include a user equipment receiving a first configuration of layer one measurement and reporting together with a second configuration for channel state information measurement and reporting for a candidate cell. The method can also include reporting layer one measurement according to the first configuration. The method can further include performing channel state information measurements according to the second configuration. The method can additionally include reporting the channel state information measurements to a network element to be forwarded to the candidate cell.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, by a user equipment (UE) connected to a first cell, an activation for a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state of a first configured TCI state pool associated with a second cell and further receiving a configuration of a second TCI state of a second TCI state pool associated with the second cell. The UE determines that the first activated TCI state and the second TCI state share one or more properties, and based upon the determining, activates the second TCI state of the second cell. The UE performs a cell switch to the second cell, maintaining the activated second TCI state of the second cell.
