Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for dynamic cell-specific delay for timing scaling in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). For example, certain embodiments may utilize a cell-common delay composed of FL and part of SL (until a cell-specific reference surface). A network node (e.g., a gNB) may calculate the cell-common delay as a function of time (T_c(t)) and may provide this function to the UEs (the satellite path may beis deterministic). The function of time may be a combination of two functions representing the FL and SL. The function can may be broadcasted in a system information block (SIB) or transmitted directly to the UE through radio resource control (RRC) signaling when it becomes active, is handed over, and/or regularly updated.

The method may also include registering the change in the at least one UE's GA location, and configuring at least one of radio access network (RAN)-based notification area (RNA) or tracking area (TA) based on the registered change in the at least one UE's GA location.

The assistance information at least indicated a type of a cell switching. The first device skips buffer flushing and security key updating regardless of the type of cell switching. In this way, it can achieve cell switching without handover.

Abstract: A UE, connected using a current cell served by a first satellite to a BS, receives information from the BS including assistance information for a cell switch from the current cell to a cell served by a second satellite. The information is received before a stop time indicating when the current cell will stop serving the UE. The UE performs the cell switch from the current cell to the cell served by the second satellite using at least the assistance information to find cell synchronization block(s) for the served by the second satellite. The BS sends the information from the BS including the assistance information for a cell switch from the current cell to a cell served by a second satellite. The BS shuts down the current cell at a stop time.
