    Abstract: A radio device housing uses an exterior layer or surface made of an electrically conductive anti-static material that is formed over an interior or inner layer that is made of a non-conductive material. The anti-static material prevents the accumulation of static charge on the device housing in accordance with intrinsically safe design standards. An antenna portion is formed on a section of the non-conductive material that is not covered by the conductive material. An antenna element is disposed on the antenna portion and coupled to a radio circuit inside the device.
