Abstract: This application provides a random access method and a communication apparatus. The method includes: receiving, by a terminal device, a response message from a network device; determining, by the terminal device, a message format of the response message, where the message format includes a first format or a second format; and parsing, by the terminal device, the response message based on the determined message format, where the response message in the first format includes a contention resolution identity and a control plane message; and the response message in the second format includes a contention resolution identity and includes no control plane message. A two-step random access method provided in this application includes two message formats of a random access response.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application disclose a data transmission method and an apparatus. The method includes: When a terminal device is in a radio resource control RRC inactive state, the terminal device selects a first synchronization signal block SSB at first time, and sends first small data transmission SDT data to a network device by using a first configured grant CG resource corresponding to the first SSB; and when signal quality of a plurality of SSBs at second time is greater than a first threshold, the terminal device preferentially selects the first SSB from the plurality of SSBs at the second time, and sends second SDT data to the network device by using a second CG resource corresponding to the first SSB.

The method includes: The terminal device receives system information that indicates a first random access configuration of N first features of a network device, one first feature is one feature or one feature combination, the first random access configuration includes M first configurations and N second configurations, there is a correspondence between the M first configurations and the N second configurations, and M and N are positive integers. The terminal device initiates random access based on the first random access configuration. A random access configuration is for the N first features, and the first configuration is a shared configuration. The shared configuration may be a parameter shared by a plurality of first features. The second configuration is a dedicated configuration and is a configuration applicable to the one first feature.

A specific solution includes: A terminal sets one or more HARQ processes that are associated with a first configured grant CG configuration on a first bandwidth part BWP to be in a not pending status, where the first CG configuration includes one or more CG configurations configured by a network device for the terminal on the first BWP, and the first BWP is a currently activated BWP of the terminal; and the terminal sends uplink data to the network device by using the HARQ process that is associated with the first CG configuration and that is in the not pending status.

Abstract: A random access method is provided including: a terminal side device obtains first uplink data from a first message buffer, wherein the first message buffer is a buffer specific to a first random access procedure, the first random access procedure is a procedure in which the terminal side device sends a first random access request, sends the first uplink data on a first uplink resource, and receives response information, and the response information is a first random access response to the first random access request or a response to the first uplink data. The terminal side device sends the first random access request to a network side device, and sends the first uplink data to the network side device on the first uplink resource. The terminal side device detects downlink control information, wherein the downlink control information indicates a resource of the response information.

Abstract: This application discloses an indoor-outdoor determining-based uplink transmission method and apparatus. A terminal device or a positioning device determines whether the terminal device is located indoors or outdoors. The terminal device or the positioning device sends a first message to an access network device, where the first message includes a first information element, and the first information element indicates whether the terminal device is located indoors or outdoors. The access network device determines an access parameter of the terminal device based on the first information element, where the access parameter includes an access frequency. According to the method disclosed in embodiments of this application, uplink transmission of the terminal device in a proper frequency band is implemented, and communication interference is reduced.
