Abstract: A sensor assembly for a head-mountable device, the sensor assembly comprising: a flex circuit, an inertial measurement unit coupled to the flex circuit, an enclosure disposed around the inertial measurement unit and a portion of the flex circuit, to define a sealed volume containing the inertial measurement unit and the portion of the flex circuit. Thereby, a head-mountable device can securely support sensors in a manner that maintains their positions and orientations over time and isolates the sensors from an external environment. The sensor can be mounted within a sealed enclosure while maintaining an operable connection to the sensor. The sensor assemblies provides high robustness during the entirety of the service life of the head-mountable device without placing strain on the sensors themselves. The seal of the enclosure can isolate the sensor from external influences by preventing ingress of elements through the case and plate.

Abstract: A case can facilitate operation with a portable electronic device and a battery device that can be connected to another, external device. To minimize the number of separate devices carried by a user, a battery device can be held within the case that also holds the portable electronic device. The case can hold the portable electronic device continually and receive the battery device when the user wants to group the devices together. The battery pack can provide charging power to the external device (e.g., wearable device) while held within the case. The case can provide engagement with the battery device to retain it and/or a communication link to communicate with it.

Abstract: An external device, such as a head-mountable device, can be operated with a ring input device worn on a finger of a user. Such devices can be operated to provide inputs that are received and acted upon by the external device. The inputs can be provided as rotating, tilting, and/or sliding at least a portion of the ring input device with another finger of the user. The ring input device can provide feedback to the user as confirmation that the inputs are being received. A feedback system can also be operated to limit or otherwise provide a force on the finger and/or another portion of the hand to simulate sensations perceived by the user.

Abstract: A head-mountable device can provide an optical module that removes particles from an optical pathway and captures the particles so they do not interfere with the user's view of and/or through optical elements. For example, the display element and/or another optical element can be moved in a manner that releases particles on a viewing surface thereof. The optical module can include a particle retention element that securely retains the particles so that they remain outside of the optical pathway. Such particle removal and retention can improve and maintain the quality of a user's visual experience via the optical module.
