Abstract: A drug delivery device includes a housing, a reservoir, a cannula, one or more light sources, a label, and a controller. The reservoir is disposed within the housing. The cannula is connected to the reservoir for delivering a drug from the reservoir to the patient. The light sources are disposed adjacent the exterior surface of the housing, and each serves to indicate one of one or more operational conditions of the device. The label is fixed to the housing adjacent the light sources, and includes one or more informational messages. Each informational message is aligned with one of the light sources for conveniently conveying to a user an operational condition of the device as indicated by the corresponding light source. Finally, the controller is operably connected to the reservoir and the light sources. The controller is configured to actuate the reservoir to deliver the drug, and to selectively illuminate the one or more light sources based on the operational condition of the drug delivery device.

Abstract: Drug delivery devices are described that provide hybrid forms with optional gripping functionalities. For example, the devices can include a grip portion on a skin contact surface with a release liner disposed thereon. A user can operate the devices with the release liner disposed on the grip portion or can remove the release liner so that the grip portion is able to aid users in orienting and supporting the device during an injection operation.

Abstract: A system and a method for filling an on-body injector includes a needle of the prefilled syringe being aligned with a fill port of the on-body injector. The needle may then be inserted into a guide of a needle cover attached to the on-body injector. An adapter attached to the syringe barrel may guide the needle into a center of the bore of the guide and into the fill port of the on-body injector. The needle may be inserted into the fill port and the adapter may be mechanically coupling to the guide. After the adapter is mechanically coupled to the guide, a volume of the drug of the prefilled syringe may be dispensed into a reservoir of the on-body injector. Once the reservoir is filled to a desired amount, the needle may be removed from the fill port by decoupling the adapter from the guide.
