    Abstract: A method includes: displaying to a display a first indication of a first segment of a patient's oral cavity to be scanned; receiving a first user input via a hand held intraoral scanning device; causing the hand held intraoral scanning device to enter a scan mode; receiving one or more intraoral scans of the first segment; generating a three-dimensional (3D) model of the first segment based on the one or more intraoral scans; displaying to the display the 3D model of the first segment; receiving a second user input via the intraoral scanning device after receiving the one or more intraoral scans of the first segment; and displaying to the display an overlay including a first element corresponding to third user input for navigating to a next segment and a second element corresponding to fourth user input for navigating to a previous segment.

    Abstract: A method of cryptographically secured digital dental treatment planning comprises: receiving, at an intraoral scanning system, an intraoral scan of a patient's dentition, wherein the intraoral scan comprises a three-dimensional (3D) surface representing the patient's dentition at a first arrangement; encrypting, at the intraoral scanning system, the intraoral scan to create a cryptographically secured dental record of the patient's dentition; decrypting, at a treatment planning system, the cryptographically secured dental record; determining a target arrangement for the patient's dentition; determining a digital treatment plan for the patient's dentition, wherein the digital treatment plan comprises a series of intermediate arrangements for a series of aligners to move the patient's dentition from the first arrangement toward the target arrangement; adding the digital treatment plan to the cryptographically secured dental record of the patient's dentition; and sending the cryptographically secured dental record of the patient's dentition to one or more data stores.

    Abstract: A processing device receives a first intraoral image of a first region of a dental site and a second intraoral image of a second region of the dental site during an intraoral scan session. The processing device determines that the first intraoral does not overlap with the second intraoral image. The processing device registers the first intraoral image to the second intraoral image in a three-dimensional space according to a historical template, wherein the historical template is a virtual model of the dental site as generated from additional intraoral images taken during a previous intraoral scan session.

    Abstract: During a medical scan session, a computing device executing a medical scan application receives a touch input from a touch sensitive medical scanning device. The computing device determines whether the touch input comprises at least one of a hold gesture or a swipe gesture. The computing device then performs a first function responsive to determining that the touch input comprises a hold gesture. The computing device then performs a second function responsive to determining that the touch input comprises a swipe gesture.
