Abstract:
A dental probe that directly measures pH level and temperature of gum pockets and other diseased parts of the oral cavity is provided. The dental probe has a handle and a needle with a pH sensor and a temperature sensor in the needle tip. The handle permits the dentist to manipulate the needle tip to examine a diseased spot in the mouth, where both pH levels and temperature can be analyzed. The rear part of the handle has a light receptor which remains outside the oral cavity when the needle tip is inserted in the diseased part, creating a path for light through the needle part. The dental probe is attached to a dental diagnosis device that enables processing and readout of pH levels and temperature.
Abstract:
This protocol data generator-analyzer encodes and decodes protocol data units, which are transfer syntaxes used in data communications, for setting of or reference to the values as components of the protocol data units. First, table generation means generates, from an abstract syntax described according to an international standard specification as input data, a machine-processible table showing the data structure of the abstract syntax. For encoding of a protocol data unit, component data input means inputs the values of protocol data unit components. List generation/reference means generates a list having values corresponding to the data structure of the abstract syntax based on the values input by the component data input means during encoding, and converts the values to those referable using the list during decoding. Protocol data unit encoding/decoding means encodes sending protocol data units by inputting the table and list or decodes received protocol data units based on the table for list generation. Component data reference means refers to the values converted by the list generation/reference means based on the list generated by decoding of received protocol data units.

Abstract:
An one-piece dental probe made of light condensing fluorescent plastic comprising a handle, a distal portion and a measuring needle for measuring and exploring blind gum pockets is provided. The measuring needle has at least one visible measurement gradation for measuring the depth of the blind pocket. Light collected at the distal end of the probe is reflected through the probe and illuminates the vicinity of the blind pocket, thus enabling accurate measurement of the depth of the blind pocket in low-light conditions. The tip of the measuring needle may be hemispherical, and form an annular ledge around the needle for probing the existence and location of tartar and other foreign matters in the blind pocket.
Abstract:
A measuring device for measuring the depth of a blind pocket formed around a tooth. A first embodiment of the measuring device has a measuring probe of optical material, such an optical fiber or rod, that has light-emitting notches or grooves near the probe tip, the notches being spaced to form a rule. The probe can be coupled to a light source, such as a penlight which can also be used as handle. The measuring probe is provided with an optical path to conduct light from the light source to the light-emitting ruler markings. A second embodiment of the measuring device has a measuring probe with a tapered tip formed by a staircase bundle of optical fibers covered by a transparent sheath. When light is introduced into a light source end of the staircase bundle of optical fibers, the opposite end in the probe's tapered tip is illuminated in a staircase pattern that can be used as rule.
Abstract:
A pickup unit for use in an optical information record/reproduce system comprising a plurality of optical elements including a light-emitting device and an objective lens by which the light issuing from the light-emitting device is focused as a beam spot on the recording surface of a recording medium, a retaining mechanism that holds the plurality of optical elements and which is movable in a direction parallel to the recording surface, and a tilt servo mechanism for causing the optical axis of the beam spot to intersect the recording surface at right angles. The tilt servo mechanism includes a sensor for detecting the angle of inclination of the optical axis in relation to the recording surface. The sensor has a sensor stay as an integral part thereof. The sensor stay is provided as an integral part of the retaining mechanism and is movable with respect to the recording surface.

Abstract:
An IC device contactor for electrically connecting IC devices each having a large number of spherical electrodes on one side of a substrate to an IC tester head for a test of electrical properties or characteristics. The IC device contactor includes: a socket board having a predetermined number of contact points formed on a surface thereof; an anisotropic conductive sheet having a multitude of fine conductive wires embedded in the insulating sheet in an angularly oriented state; a tip holder perforated with a predetermined number of apertures; and a predetermined number of contact tips fitted in the apertures of the tip holder for contact with the spherical electrodes of the IC devices. The anisotropic conductive sheet is disposed with its side in engagement with the socket board and the other side in engagement with the contact tips to electrically connect the contact tips with the contact points on the socket board. The contact tips are assembled with the tip holder in such a way as to be securely retained in position within the respective aperture and are brought into pressed contact with the anisotropic conductive sheet at one end while the other end of the contact tips is projected out of the aperture by a predetermined length.
