Abstract: A heads-up display includes a thin-film transistor (TFT) panel, along with at least one reflective polarizer subassembly. Each of the at least one reflective polarizer subassembly includes a clear substrate having opposing first and second surfaces. The first surface is connected to the TFT panel, and the second surface has a polarizing film laminated thereto. The first surface of the clear substrate is textured, frosted, or the like such that when it is attached to the TFT panel it inhibits bonding between the clear substrate and the TFT panel that would cause optical defects.

Abstract: A heat exchanger is provided with a unitary, single-piece structure that can be formed via 3D printing, for example. The heat exchanger includes a main body a plurality of plates stacked and integrally formed with the body. First fluid channels are defined by gaps in the material of the main body, and second fluid channels are defined by gaps in the material of the main body and are stacked with the first fluid channels in alternating fashion, separated by the plates. Each of the first fluid channels define a first flow path, and each of the second fluid channels define a second flow path. A portion of the first flow paths overlap, and are oriented opposite to, a portion of the second flow paths. Another portion of the first flow paths overlap, and are oriented transverse to, another portion of the second flow paths.

Abstract: A secondary loop HVAC system including an evaporator, a condenser, an expansion valve, and a compressor. A refrigerant loop is in fluid communication with each of the evaporator, the condenser, and the expansion valve. An HVAC case includes a first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger. A first coolant loop is in fluid communication with the first heat exchanger, the second heat exchanger, and either the evaporator or the condenser. A valve system is configured to control flow of the coolant through the first coolant loop. In a maximum hot heating mode, the valve system is configured to direct the coolant through the condenser, the first heat exchanger, and the second heat exchanger. In a maximum cold cooling mode, the valve system is configured to direct the coolant through the evaporator, the first heat exchanger, and the second heat exchanger.

Abstract: An access system for a vehicle includes a receiver and an access module. The receiver is configured to receive a signal transmitted from a portable access device to the vehicle. The access module is configured to: generate a differentiated signal based on the received signal; up-sample the differentiated signal to generate a first up-sampled signal; obtain or generate an expected signal; up-sample the expected signal to generate a second up-sampled signal; cross-correlate the first up-sampled signal and the second up-sampled signal to generate a cross-correlation signal; based on the cross-correlation signal, determine a phase difference between the first up-sampled signal and the second up-sampled signal; determine a round trip time of the signal received by the receiver; and permit access to the vehicle based on the round trip time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for localization and passive entry/passive start (PEPS) systems for vehicles are provided. A communication gateway in a vehicle configured to establish a Bluetooth low energy (BLE) communication connection with a portable device. Sensors are configured to measure signal information about a communication signal sent from the portable device. A localization module is configured to receive the signal information from the sensors and determine a location of the portable device based on the signal information. A passive entry/passive start (PEPS) system is configured to receive the location of the portable device from the localization module and perform a vehicle function including at least one of unlocking a door of the vehicle, unlocking a trunk of the vehicle, and allowing the vehicle to be started based on the location of the portable device. Each of the plurality of sensors are synchronized.
