摘要: A well casing system is disclosed for the handling and make-up of casing on a drilling rig in conjunction with a top drive is disclosed. The system comprises a top drive, a casing make-up assembly, links, link tilts, and transfer and lifting elevators. The operator can remotely manipulate the elevators to pick up and position a joint of casing above the casing already secured in the drilling hole. The operator can then engage the gripper head and use the rotational capability of the top drive to remotely couple the two joints of casing together.

摘要: Methods for making a threaded connection between an upper tubular and a lower tubular using an oilfield tubular spinner and a torque wrench, including holding the lower tubular with the torque wrench, frictionally engaging the upper tubular with the tubular spinner, operating a motor of the tubular spinner to spin-in and shoulder-up a tubular connection between the upper tubular and the lower tubular, establishing a threshold hydraulic system pressure that indicates a shouldered-up condition, monitoring, with a detection system, a hydraulic system pressure of the motor during spin-in and shoulder-up, and maintaining the threshold hydraulic system pressure to operate the motor for a selected period of time after the threshold hydraulic system pressure is reached. An oilfield tubular spinner for an oilfield tubular wrench is also provided.

摘要: A thread compensation apparatus including a drive connection. The drive connection portion includes an outer portion coupled to a drive apparatus and a rotating inner portion with a drive interface configured to couple to a rotating shaft of the drive apparatus. The thread compensation apparatus also includes a sleeve being rotatable with the inner portion of the drive connection, the sleeve being rotatable relative to the outer portion of the drive connection. The thread compensation apparatus includes a lower shaft which engages the sleeve, such that the sleeve can impart rotation to the lower shaft. Additionally, the lower shaft also includes a lower connection interface, such as to couple to a tubular gripping apparatus. Further, the lower shaft is displaceable relative to the sleeve and an actuator coupled to the outer portion of the drive connection operates to displace the lower shaft with respect to the sleeve.

摘要: A low inertia permanent magnet motor includes a stator and rotor. The rotor includes a generally tubular and hollow rotor body coupled to the shaft of the motor by one or more spokes and/or webs. The permanent magnets of the rotor are coupled to the rotor body. In some embodiments, the low inertia permanent magnet motor may be used to power a drawworks. In some embodiments, the drawworks may be controlled by an active heave compensation controller.

摘要: A tubular handling apparatus including a tubular member running tool adapted to provide load-bearing, and preferably torquing, capacity upon the gripping of a tubular is provided. The running tool includes a slotted member having a plurality of elongated slots, a recessed member associated with the slotted member and having a plurality of recesses, and a plurality of gripping elements disposed between the slotted member and recessed member. Each such gripping element is adapted to move with an engaged tubular so as to grip the tubular. A tubular member elevator associated to the running tool, as well as related floor slips, are also encompassed. Methods of casing running are also included.

摘要: Apparatuses, methods, and systems are described which assist in controlling toolface orientation of a bottom hole assembly. A controller instructs a top drive to oscillate a drill string an oscillation revolution amount to reduce friction of the drill string in a wellbore during a slide drilling procedure. A torque sensor detects torque at an interface between the drill string and the top drive, and the controller determines properties of a torsional wave from the detected torque that is propagating along the drill string during the slide drilling procedure. The controller determines a modification to the oscillation revolution amount and/or rotations per minute in order to control the toolface orientation in a desired manner. The top drive implements the determined modification and thereby assists in controlling the toolface orientation during the slide drilling procedure.

A drilling motor with a toolface in communication with a sensor system is provided. A controller in communication with the sensor system is operable to generate a depiction of the drill plan and a depiction of the drilling motor, and to combine these depictions in a three-dimensional visualization of the downhole environment. This visualization is used by a user to steer the drill.

摘要: An apparatus includes a thrust bearing adapted to engage a tubular component. A bearing carrier is connected to the thrust bearing, an arm is connected to the bearing carrier, and an actuator is connected to the arm. In one embodiment, the bearing carrier includes an arcuate notch through which the tubular component is adapted to extend. In another embodiment, the apparatus has a first configuration in which a vertical offset is defined between the tubular component and the thrust bearing, and a second configuration in which the thrust bearing is engaged with the tubular component for the support thereof. In another embodiment, the apparatus is placed in the first configuration in response to a cessation of a supply of electrical power to a control valve in fluid communication with the actuator. In another embodiment, the tubular component is connected to, or is part of, a quill of a top drive.
