Abstract: Disclosed herein is a multi-level analysis for determining a root cause of a network problem by performing a first level of the multi-level process that includes collecting data from one or more network components, generating a set of system metrics where each system metric of the set representing a portion of the data, ranking the set of system metrics based on a level of correlation of each system metric to the network problem to yield a ranked set of system metrics, and providing a visual representation of the first level of the multi-level process. A second level of the multi-level process includes receiving an input identifying one or more of the ranked set of system metrics to be excluded from analysis and performing a conditional analysis using only ones of the set of system metrics that are not identified for exclusion.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for hierarchichal sharding of flows from sensors to collectors. A first collector can receive a first portion of a network flow from a first capturing agent and determine that a second portion of the network flow was not received from the first capturing agent. The first collector can then send the first portion of the network flow to a second collector. A third collector can receive the second portion of the network flow from a second capturing agent and determine that the third collector did not receive the first portion of the network flow. The third collector can then send the second portion of the network flow to the second collector. The second collector can then aggregate the first portion and second portion of the network flow to yield the entire portion of the network flow.

Abstract: An example method includes detecting, using sensors, packets throughout a datacenter. The sensors can then send packet logs to various collectors which can then identify and summarize data flows in the datacenter. The collectors can then send flow logs to an analytics module which can identify the status of the datacenter and detect an attack.

A network analytics system can capture flow data and metadata from network elements. The network analytics system can enrich the flow data by in-line association of the flow data and metadata. The network analytics system can generate multiple planes with each plane representing a dimension of enriched flow data. The network analytics system can generate nodes for the planes with each node representing a unique value or set of values for the dimensions represented by planes. The network analytics system can generate edges for the nodes of the planes with each edge representing a flow between endpoints corresponding to the nodes. The network analytics system can update the planes in response to an interaction with the planes or in response to a query.

Abstract: An application and network analytics platform can capture comprehensive telemetry from servers and network devices operating within a network. The platform can discover flows running through the network, applications generating the flows, servers hosting the applications, computing resources provisioned and consumed by the applications, and network topology, among other insights. The platform can generate various models relating one set of application and network performance metrics to another. For example, the platform can model application latency as a function of computing resources provisioned to and/or actually used by the application, its host's total resources, and/or the distance of its host relative to other elements of the network. The platform can change the model by moving, removing, or adding elements to predict how the change affects application and network performance. In some situations, the platform can automatically act on predictions to improve application and network performance.

Abstract: Application dependency mapping (ADM) can be automated in a network. The network can determine whether certain nodes form a cluster of a tier of an application. The network can monitor network data and process data for traffic passing through the network using a sensor network that provides multiple perspectives for the traffic. The network can analyze the network data and process data to determine respective feature vectors for nodes. A feature vector may represent a combination of the features corresponding to the network data and the features corresponding to the process data of a node. The network can compare the similarity of the respective feature vectors and determine each node's cluster based on similarity measures between nodes.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to solutions for transporting network traffic over an overlay network. A first tunnel endpoint in an overlay network can receive an encapsulated packet from a second tunnel endpoint. The encapsulated packet may have been encapsulated at the second tunnel endpoint based on another packet originating from a source host that is associated with the second tunnel endpoint. The encapsulated packet can include a source host address for the source host and a source tunnel endpoint address for the second tunnel endpoint. The first tunnel endpoint can then update a lookup table based on an association between the source host address and the source tunnel endpoint address.
