Abstract:
A plastic container is provided that includes a lower supporting base portion; a sidewall portion extending upwardly from the base portion; a neck portion extending upwardly from the sidewall portion; and a closure. The neck portion includes a support flange having an upper and lower surface, threads, a tamper-evident formation, and a dispensing opening at the top of the neck portion. In an embodiment, the weight of the neck portion is 3.0 grams or less; and the vertical distance from the top of the dispensing opening to the lower surface of the support flange, including the threads and the tamper-evident formation, is 0.580 inches or less. A preform and method for making a container are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming a thermoplastic container from a cylindrical preform and for delivering a predetermined volume of a beverage component into the container. The apparatus includes: a mold defining a shape of the container; a member configured to inject at least one beverage component into a recess in the preform so as to promote expansion of the preform inside the mold into the shape of the container, the member being further configured to inject the at least one beverage component in a first volume intentionally greater than the predetermined volume; and the member also being configured to remove a fraction of the first volume of the beverage component until a second volume of beverage component remaining in the container is equal to the predetermined volume.
Abstract:
A container defining a longitudinal axis and a transverse direction that is transverse with respect to the longitudinal axis is disclosed. The container includes a finish, a sidewall portion extending from the finish, and a base portion extending from the sidewall portion and enclosing the sidewall portion to form a volume therein for retaining a commodity. The base portion has a contact surface for supporting the container. The container also includes at least one strap extending along the base portion in the transverse direction. The strap defines a strap surface, and the strap surface is spaced offset in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis from the contact surface. The strap surface extends in the transverse direction to be adjacent the sidewall portion such that the at least one strap surface is visible from a side of the container.
Abstract:
To solve a problem associated with formation of a transparent window portion in a biaxially stretch blow molded container by a nozzle structure of an injection molding apparatus, provided is a biaxially stretch blow molded container that is formed with a clearly transparent window portion in a longitudinal strip shape by effectively preventing mixture and cut-in of a colored resin to the window portion. In a predetermined range extending from an upstream end to a predetermined downstream position of a flow path including a cylindrical flow path and a reduced-diameter flow path formed in a nozzle portion, a pair of guiding ribs in the form of longitudinal ridges is arranged in line to partition the flow path in a circumferential direction, and a longitudinal groove flow path is formed between the pair of guiding ribs. A molten B resin is supplied to the longitudinal groove flow path, and a molten A resin is supplied to the cylindrical flow path excluding the longitudinal groove flow path. Thus, the longitudinal strip-shaped flow path of the B resin interrupts the cylindrical flow path of the A resin in the circumferential direction.
Abstract:
A gripping device for supporting preforms made of a thermoplastic material, having necks with a different length, such necks having, in turn, a step obtained therein which may abut against a step obtained on the outer surface of the gripping device, i.e., the chuck, such a step of the chuck being located, for each preform, always at the same distance from the neck ring base.
Abstract:
A blow molding machine assembly configured to be mounted to a blow molding machine to move a mold base configured to form a container base. The blow molding machine assembly includes an over-stroke cylinder and a counter-stretch rod. The over-stroke cylinder is configured to move the mold base between an extended base position and a retracted base position. The counter-stretch rod is movable between a retracted rod position in which the counter-stretch rod does not extend out from within the mold base, and an extended rod position in which the counter-stretch rod extends out from within the mold base.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a specific polyethylene terephthalate (PET) allowing to produce a stretch blow molded PET bottle having superior resistance to environmental stress cracking when the inner or outer surface of the bottle is treated with stress cracking causing chemical substances and to a method of manufacturing such specific PET. The invention also relates to a stretch blow molded bottle made of such PET and a preform of such a bottle. The invention further relates to the use of the specific PET for the manufacture of a stretch blow molded PET bottle having said superior resistance to environmental stress cracking or the manufacture of a preform of such a PET bottle.
Abstract:
A method of forming a container from bi-axially orientable plastics material and having an integral handle with the steps of forming a preform having a neck portion and an expandable portion below the neck portion with the neck portion including a locating ring above the expandable portion and a handle molded to the non expandable at one end and molded to the expandable portion at the other end. Where the molded-in handle is the approximate length of the handle of the finished container. The unblown preform of orientable plastics is inserted into a blow molder and thereafter stretched by a stretch rod. During the stretch process the handle on the preform unbends rather than stretching to form the approximate shape of the handle in the finished container. The blow mold then closes on the stretched preform thus capturing the handle. Blow gas is then injected into the interior.
Abstract:
In various embodiments, a molded product delivery apparatus or a blow molding machine includes a first transfer member that includes first paired chucks that hold a portion of an outer wall of a neck portion of a molded product, and a second transfer member that includes second paired chucks that hold another portion of the outer wall of the neck portion of the molded product. From a state where the molded product is held by both of the first paired chucks and the second paired chucks simultaneously, by opening one of the first paired chucks and the second paired chucks without interfering with the other, the molded product is delivered between the first paired chucks and the second paired chucks.
