Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for discovery of resources in a wireless communications system. The wireless communications system supports operations for multiple network operating entities that share a radio frequency spectrum. To discover and perform synchronization with the wireless communications system, a common preamble may be transmitted by nodes associated with multiple network operating entities. The common preamble may include information common to each of the multiple network operating entities which may be used by a device to identify neighboring wireless nodes, available network operating entities, or sub-intervals designated for prioritized or opportunistic use by one or more network operating entities.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless node may receive stress beacons on a channel. Each stress beacon may include an indication of an allowable interference level for a corresponding wireless node that transmitted the stress beacon on the channel. The wireless node may update a backoff window for the channel based on the allowable interference levels indicated in the stress beacons.

Abstract: A connection may be established between a base station and a user equipment (UE) using a radio frequency shared by multiple network operating entities. Resources (e.g., a frame) may be divided into exclusive, prioritized, and opportunistic sub-intervals for a given network operating entity coexisting within the shared radio frequency spectrum. Additionally, a set of low latency sub-intervals (e.g., reserved resources) may be designated for use by the network operating entity for mission critical (MiCr) and/or autonomous uplink transmissions. The network operating entity may indicate timing information for low latency sub-intervals during a sub-interval for exclusive use by the network operating entity. The UE may then transmit MiCr and/or autonomous uplink messages using the low latency intervals without performing a medium sensing procedure. In some cases, the sub-intervals for MiCr and autonomous uplink transmissions may be for exclusive use by the network operating entity.

A wireless device may determine an interference status of each beam configuration of a plurality of active beam configurations for a shared radio frequency spectrum band. The wireless device may determine a beam-specific listen-before-talk (LBT) requirement for each beam configuration of the plurality of active beam configurations based at least in part on the determined interference status of each beam configuration. The wireless device may selectively enable an LBT procedure on a per-beam basis according to the determined beam-specific LBT requirement for each beam configuration.

Abstract: A medium reservation framework is disclosed for coexistence of coordinated and uncoordinated wireless networks in licensed spectrum and shared spectrum. The proposed medium reservation framework organically takes into account operating regimes with different numbers of Tx/Rx antennas per node, provides flexibility in trading off medium contention aggressiveness and power saving, leverages the inherent synchronization nature of NR, and covers both coordinated and uncoordinated operation scenarios. Various aspects of the medium reservation framework may be centered on one or more combinations of some basic building blocks, such as an operation grid, synchronization signals, and reservation messages, such as a reservation request signal (RRQ) and one or more a reservation response signals (RRS).

Abstract: Sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission with implied request-to-send (RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) operations is discussed. Two different types of SRS are defined, a legacy SRS associated with channel measurement sounding, and a contention SRS associated with contention resolution for medium sharing. The type of SRS may be distinguished based on the SRS resource associated with the particular type. Thus, legacy SRS are assigned to one SRS resource, while contention SRS are assigned to separate SRS resources. Therefore, when a neighbor node detects an SRS associated with the SRS resource for contention-type SRS, the neighbor node may know to refrain from transmission or to adjust or modify its communications depending on a spatial direction of the contention SRS.

Abstract: Techniques for managing operation on a communication medium shared between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) are disclosed. The management may comprise, for example, monitoring the medium for first RAT signaling in accordance with a first RAT; determining a utilization metric associated with utilization of the medium by the first RAT signaling; cycling operation in accordance with a second RAT between activated periods and deactivated periods of communication over the medium in accordance with a Time Division Multiple Access (TDM) communication pattern based on the utilization metric; and periodically disabling the cycling to provide an AOS period of activated communication over the medium for operation in accordance with the second RAT, with the AOS period being longer than an individual activated period of the TDM communication pattern. The management may also comprise, for example, techniques for enabling/disabling monitoring by an access terminal in accordance with the TDM communication pattern.

Abstract: Techniques for channel selection and related operations in a shared spectrum environment are disclosed. In one example, a channel selector or the like may be used to select one of a number of available channels as an operating channel based on a comparison of cost functions for each of the available channels, with the cost functions being based on separate utility and penalty metrics. In another example, a channel scanner or the like may be used to trigger a channel scan in response to a channel quality metric indicating poor service for a threshold number or proportion of access terminals. In another example, an operating mode controller may be used to trigger a Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) mode on an operating channel in response to a utilization metric being above a threshold. The TDM mode may cycle operation between activated and deactivated periods in accordance with a TDM communication pattern.

Abstract: The present methods and apparatus relate to managing interference associated with a configuration of a self-organizing network (SON) during wireless communication, comprising receiving, at a first radio access technology (RAT) entity, measurement information from a user equipment (UE) for assisting with interference management at a second RAT entity, wherein the first RAT entity is collocated with the second RAT entity; and configuring the second RAT entity based at least in part on the measurement information received by the first RAT entity. Partitioning resources may include assigning certain types of communication for each network operating entity to certain time intervals within a larger time frame. For example, a network operating entity may be assigned time intervals for exclusive communication, time intervals for prioritized communication with respect to other network operating entities, and time intervals for opportunistic communication.
