    摘要: A check valve (36, 136) for a screw (24) is provided. The check valve (36, 136) includes a retainer tip (54, 154), operable to be attached to a distal end of a screw shaft (52, 152), the retainer tip (54, 154) defining at least one melt channel (30). A first ring (60) is coaxially mounted to and rotationally-coupled with the retainer tip (54, 154). A second ring (66) is coaxially and slidably mounted to the retainer tip (54, 154), and is operable to rotate relative to the retainer tip (54, 154). The second ring (66) is operable to reversibly move between an open position which permits melt to flow through the check valve (36, 136) and a closed position which prevents backflow of the melt.

    摘要: A mixing and kneading machine (1) for continual compounding comprises a screw shaft (3) rotating in a casing 2 and simultaneously moving axially translationally. To sustainably enhance the efficiency of the machine as regards its material thruput per unit of time a screw shaft is proposed having the following geometric ratios: Da/Di=1.5 to 2.0, i.e. the ratio of screw shaft outer diameter Da to screw shaft inner diameter Di is 1.5 to 2.0, Da/H=4 to 6, i.e. the ratio of screw shaft outer diameter Da to stroke H is between 4 and 6, T/H=1.3 to 2.5, i.e. the ratio of pitch T to stroke H is between 1.3 and 2.5. The mixing and kneading machine (1) provided with such a screw shaft (3) is operated preferably at a rotational speed exceeding 500 rpm, particularly exceeding 800 rpm.

    摘要: An extruder for extruding an associated material includes an extruder housing that has a feed section, a center section that includes a throttle section, and an outlet section with an extruder screw disposed in the extruder housing. The extruder also includes a throttle at the throttle section. The throttle has a plurality of pins that extend radially into the housing. The pins are adjusted by a cam extending around the extruder housing. The cam has an inner wall that has a plurality of cam surfaces engageable by pins. The radius of each of the cam surfaces gradually decreases from a maximum radius to a minimum radius distance. The pins have springs that urge the pins radially outward to contact the inner wall of the cam. The cam is rotated by a piston and cylinder assembly. The extruder further includes sensors for temperature, gauge, weight, and other properties of the material. The extruder also has a control apparatus for controlling the speed of the extruder and the throttle based upon any combination of temperature, gauge, weight, and production requirements while the extruder is in operation.
