    摘要: A rotary displacement machine has a casing (1) having a spherical interior space accommodating a rotor. The rotor is spherical and is formed by a disc-shaped partition (2) having on either side thereof pivotally vanes (3, 4). The vanes (3, 4) are connected to the partition (2) along the diameter, extend in mutally perpendicular planes and are connected to power takeoff shafts (5, 5') extending at an angle with respect to each other. The pivotal connection of the partition (2) to each vane (3, 4) is in the form of mating cylindrical projections (9, 9' ) of the partition of the vanes (3, 4). Axes (a, b) of the projections (9, 9') of the partition (2) extend mutually perpendicularly and in one and the same plane.

    摘要: An improved slant axis rotary mechanism including a housing defining a chamber having radially inner and outer spherical walls interconnected by opposed, generally radially extending side walls, a shaft journalled in the housing and having an angularly offset portion within the chamber, a timing gear within the chamber at one side thereof and surrounding the shaft, a rotor journalled on the angularly offset portion within the chamber and having a spherical hub and a peripheral, radially outwardly extending flange extending from the hub, and a ring gear carried by the hub on one end thereof and meshed with the timing gear. In the inventive mechanism, the included angle between opposite portions of the flange on the side opposite from the gears is less than 180.degree. thereby enabling the thickness of the flange to be increased, or the wobble angle to be increased, or combinations of the foregoing.

    摘要: An improved apex seal construction for slant axis rotary mechanisms. The mechanism includes a housing defining a chamber having radially inner and outer spherical walls interconnected by opposed, generally radially extending side walls, a shaft journalled in the housing and having an angularly offset portion within the chamber, a rotor within the chamber and journalled on the angularly offset portion. The rotor has a spherical hub and a peripheral, radially outwardly extending flange having plural apexes on each side thereof, each apex being provided with an apex seal receiving groove extending radially the length of the flange and into the hub. An apex seal is loosely received in each groove and extends therefrom to sealingly engage a corresponding one of the side walls. The improved apex seals according to the invention and their corresponding grooves are dimensioned to have a lesser clearance interiorly of the groove than at the point of emergence of the grooves from the flange so as to narrow the gas leakage path about the seals through the grooves.

The mechanism is provided with an improved cooling system including a plurality of coolant receiving conduits in the walls in close proximity to the chamber. A thin, wear resistant layer is disposed on the walls within the chamber and interiorly of the conduits. The conduits are located closely adjacent the intersections of the side walls and the spherical walls to provide excellent cooling.

The rotor hub has a raised bearing area in sliding engagement with the inner spherical surface of the housing. As a consequence, gas and thrust loads on the shaft and bearings journalling the same are shared by the housing to increase the useful life of the mechanism.
