Abstract: Method of throttling a pilot tone for thermal monitoring of an electro-mechanical actuator starts by computing a power estimate based on a driving signal. A first temperature estimate is then computed based on the power estimate. The pilot tone may be generated by adjusting a level of the pilot tone based on at least one of the power estimate or the first temperature estimate. The pilot tone is injected into the driving signal to generate a driving output signal that is outputted by an electro-mechanical actuator. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: A compensation coil placed at least partially underneath a magnetic field sensor package in an electronic system provides attenuation of electromagnetic interference (EMI). In an embodiment, the compensation coil attenuates EMI in a frequency band which overlaps with an operating frequency band of the magnetic field sensor. This allows the magnetic field sensor to make accurate magnetic field measurements in the presence of system level alternating current (AC) EMI. In an embodiment, a system comprises: a magnetic field sensor; a compensation coil placed at least partially underneath the magnetic field sensor; and a reverse current generator coupled to the compensation coil and to a power supply that is coupled to an electromagnetic interference (EMI) source, the reverse current generator operable to generate a reverse current in the compensation coil to generate a counter magnetic field for compensating the EMI.

Abstract: A circuit and method for determining an ambient temperature for an electronic device having a loudspeaker are described. An amplifier drives the loudspeaker and first circuitry is configure to determine an overall temperature of the loudspeaker or the amplifier. Second circuitry is configured to determine a change in temperature of the loudspeaker or the amplifier resulting from power dissipated in the loudspeaker or the amplifier. Third circuitry is configured to subtract a signal representative of the change in temperature from a signal representative of the overall temperature and output a signal representative of the ambient temperature for the electronic device.

Abstract: A loudspeaker is disclosed. The loudspeaker includes a frame; a vibration system accommodated in the frame, a voice coil for driving the voice diaphragm and a support installed at one end of the voice coil away from the voice diaphragm. The vibration system includes a voice diaphragm, and the support is connected to the frame for providing elastic support to the voice coil. The loudspeaker further includes a magnetic circuit system for driving the vibration system. The magnetic circuit system includes a yoke, a first magnet portion, and a second magnet portion. The second magnetic portion includes an auxiliary magnet and an auxiliary pole plate overlapped with the auxiliary magnet. A light source installed on the auxiliary pole plate and opposite to the support, and a photosensitive sensor arranged on the support and being within the irradiation scope of the light source are further provided.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are described for providing loudspeaker protection. An upstream loudspeaker model estimation component receives sensed electrical characteristics of a loudspeaker and generates an impedance model from which an excursion model, and associated parameters, of the loudspeaker as well as a gain change parameter may be generated. The impedance components are fitted to features of an estimated impedance, based on the voltage and current sense data, to generate the estimated impedance model of the loudspeaker by combining the fitted impedance components. The resulting estimated impedance model is converted to an excursion model of the loudspeaker. A downstream audio signal processing component utilizes the excursion model, or parameters thereof, to limit a predicted excursion of the loudspeaker. Processed audio signals associated with the limited excursion are subject to distortion suppression prior to releasing the output audio signals for playback on the loudspeaker.

The downstream audio signal processing component also utilizes processed signals associated with the constrained temperature and the limited excursion to suppress unwanted distortion for an output audio signal to be played back by the loudspeaker.

Abstract: A gas detection device includes an enclosure having an interior chamber, an audio loudspeaker in acoustic communication with the interior chamber of the enclosure, and a gas sensor configured to detect a gas within the interior chamber of the enclosure. The device may include a ventilation port configured to permit two-way gaseous communication between the interior chamber and an atmosphere external to the enclosure, where the atmosphere comprises the gas. The audio loudspeaker is configured to generate a pressure within the interior chamber. The pressure causes a portion of the external atmosphere to be drawn into the interior chamber via the ventilation port. The gas sensor may include an emitter and a receiver. The gas detection device can be integrated into a mobile electronic device, such as a smartphone or tablet computer.
