摘要: A nuclear reactor core is provided with a fuel assembly which comprises channel boxes respectively separated with spaces into which control rods are arranged and a plurality of fuel rods arranged in the channel box, at least a part of the fuel rods being charged with uranium-plutonium mixture fuel and an enrichment of U-235 or a concentration of plutonium, or both being distributed in an axial direction of the fuel rods. The concentration of a burnable poison packed in the fuel rod is distributed in the axial direction of the fuel assembly. The ratio of the occupying region of a moderator of the fuel assembly is increased with respect to the fuel occupying region. The number of the fuel rods containing the burnable poison is variously changed with respect to the total number of the fuel rods and the arranging mode thereof is also varied with the concentration thereof.

摘要: A plurality of fuel rods containing fissile material are arranged in triangle lattices. A plurality of water rods groups are arranged among the fuel rods. Each of the water rods groups includes no fuel rod but a plurality of water rods which are arranged adjacently each other in triangle lattices having substantially same pitch as the fuel rods. The water rods groups are arranged not adjacently each other, and are surrounded with the fuel rods. the outer diameter of the water rod is smaller than the pitch. The fuel assembly is able to suppress increment of pressure loss because of formation of coolant path among adjacent water rods. Further, void reactivity coefficient is able to be small.

摘要: Water rod configurations, such as for a boiling water nuclear reactor, are provided. An efficiency parameter is defined which relate to how well-used the sacrificed fuel rod positions are. Four particular water rod configurations are described, which produce high efficiency, such as having a water rod efficiency greater than about 0.6, preferably greater than about 0.7. Desired moderation is achieved by providing for sacrifice of more than four and less than nine lattice positions. The first "peanut" configuration has a cross-section with two round-cornered triangular regions, integrally connected by a constricted portion. The second configuration has a substantially rectangular cross-section. The third "clover" configuration has a four-lobed shape. The fourth "figure 8" configuration has two substantially circular cross-sectional portions. A method for analysis and design, using a new efficiency parameter, is provided. An apparatus and method for maintaining the water rod and associated fuel rods in the desired spaced configuration is effected by devices for engagement. The engagement devices use resilient deflection to produce engagement of the water rods with spacer apparatus.

摘要: A fuel assembly for a pressurized water reactor includes fuel assembly edges and a fuel assembly interior. A bundle of mutually parallel fuel rods with cladding tubes each contain nuclear fuel. A given number of guide tubes are provided for control rods. A support structure includes an upper end with a fuel assembly head, a lower end with a fuel assembly foot, and a plurality of spacers disposed perpendicular to the fuel rods. The spacers have a uniform grid structure with edge meshes formed therein at the fuel assembly edges and inner meshes formed therein in the fuel assembly interior. Each of the inner meshes are surrounded by four respective immediately adjacent meshes each having the same area and each containing a respective one of the guide or cladding tubes or an instrumentation tube. At least one of the four meshes immediately adjacent each given inner mesh with a guide tube, contains a fuel rod cladding tube with a periphery being closer to the guide tube than the fuel rod cladding tubes in the remainder of the four meshes. The cladding tube of the fuel rod in the at least one mesh immediately adjacent the given inner mesh with a guide tube, may have a larger outside diameter than a fuel rod in an edge mesh and/or it may have a central axis being closer to the guide tube than the center of the at least one mesh.

摘要: A fuel assembly has a bundle of elongated fuel rods disposed in a side-by-side relationship so as to form an array of spaced fuel rods, an outer tubular flow channel surrounding the fuel rods so as to direct flow of coolant/moderator fluid along the fuel rods, a hollow water cross extending centrally through and interconnected with the outer flow channel so as to divide the channel into separate compartments and the bundle of fuel rods into a plurality of mini-bundles thereof being disposed in the respective compartments, and a plurality of spacers axially displaced along the fuel rods in each of the mini-bundles thereof. Each of the fuel rods includes an outer cladding tube with an inner clad surface and a plurality of fuel pellets contained within the tube. Each spacer is composed of a plurality of interleaved inner straps and an outer strap encompassing the inner straps. The interleaved inner straps and the outer strap have respective protrusions formed thereon and together define spacer cells into which the respective protrusions extend to maintain the fuel rods received through the spacer cells in laterally spaced relationships in respective corner, side and interior cells defined by the interleaved inner straps and the outer straps. The BWR fuel assembly includes several improvements which enhance its thermal-hydraulic performance. First, each of the fuel rods received through the corner cells of each spacer has a diametric size smaller than that of the fuel rods received through the side and interior cells of each spacer. Also, each of the protrusions in the corner cells extend a greater distance into the corner cells than the distance through which the protrusions in the side and interior cells extend into those cells, whereby increased coolant flow space is provided through the corner cells as compared to the side and interior cells so as to increase heat transfer from the corner fuel rods to the coolant. Second, perforations are formed in the outer strap at the locations of the corner and side cells of the spacer for reducing the amount of strap area adjacent the fuel rods received in the corner and side cells and thereby increasing coolant flow to the corner and side fuel rods. Third, a generally uniform poison coating, such as boron, is applied within at least a majority of the fuel rods, the poison coating being applied to either the fuel pellets or the inner clad surface of the cladding tube of each fuel rod in the majority. Additionally, a predetermined pattern of fuel enrichment is provided with respect to the fuel rods of each mini-bundle thereof which together with the uniform poison coatings within the fuel rods ensures that the peaking powers of fuel rods in the corner and side cells of the spacers are less than the peaking power of a leading one of the fuel rods in the interior cells of the spacers.

摘要: In a nuclear reactor, gaps are defined between fuel assemblies so that moderators can be inserted. Hence, the nuclear characteristics vary between the central portion and periphery of the fuel assembly so that the local output peaking becomes greater on the periphery of the fuel assembly. The present invention flattens the local output peaking by providing that the quantity of a nuclear fuel material per fuel rod loaded in the fuel rods on the periphery of the fuel assembly is smaller than the quantity of the fuel material per fuel rod loaded in the fuel rods at the central portion of the fuel assembly. Any one of the following three constructions can be used:(1) The theoretical density of the nuclear fuel material pellets to be inserted into the fuel rod is reduced.(2) The nuclear fuel material pellets to be inserted into the fuel rod is made hollow.(3) The diameter of the fuel rod is reduced.

摘要: This invention relates to a fuel assembly for fast reactors and aims to reduce stresses induced in fuel pins by interaction between a wrapper tube and a bundle of fuel elements each of which consists of the fuel pin and a wire spacer wound around the fuel pin. The fuel elements consists of two kinds of fuel elements, one of them consists of conventional fuel pins and wire spacers and the other fuel pins of smaller diameter than the conventional fuel pins and wire spacers of larger diameter than the conventional wire spacers whereby the fuel assembly is provided with larger space therein.
