Abstract:
High-quality composite printing elements are prepared without the need for precise registration of constituent photocurable elements by disposing at least one photocurable element, and preferably a plurality of photocurable elements, upon a surface of a printing element in approximate register and then transferring a computer-generated negative onto a surface of the elements.
Abstract:
A simplified process for making plates used in printing, including forming a chemically positive copy on a transparent or translucent sheet-like structure with the lines thereon being constituted of artificial powder without going through the steps of photographing and contact copying. The copy so formed may be directly used in retouching and then plate processing. This process does not require the use of photosensitive films and chemical photograhing so that the speed of making plates is increased and damage to the environment decreased.
Abstract:
An electroconductive imaging element, that is especially useful in a high speed laser printing process utilizing electrostatography, is comprised of an insulating support, an electrically-conductive layer overlying the support and a thermoplastic dielectric imaging layer overlying the electrically-conductive layer. The electrically-conductive layer, which is comprised of at least 3 milligrams per square meter of a colloidal gel of vanadium pentoxide dispersed in a polymeric binder combines a high degree of transparency with a high degree of electrical conductivity. The thermoplastic dielectric imaging layer has a thickness of at least 0.2 micrometers and a surface resistivity of at least 10.sup.13 ohms/square and is comprised of a thermoplastic polymer with a glass transition temperature of at least 20.degree. C.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing serialization of printed circuit boards and flex circuits during the normal process of manufacture of the boards and circuits is disclosed and includes a print module which prints the serializing information on the surface of the photoresist material with a fluid, which blocks the passage of ultraviolet radiation, before the photoresist material is exposed to ultraviolet radiation through the photomask. If a negative-acting photoresist material is used, the serializing information is reverse printed on the surface of the negative-acting photoresist material. If a positive-acting photoresist material is used, the serializing information is printed on the surface of the positive-acting photoresist material.
Abstract:
An improved method for screen printing fine lines of conductive paste on a substrate wherein a mask having a desired pattern of line shaped openings is placed on the substrate, and conductive paste screened in the openings in the mask in contact with the substrate, and also as a thin layer over the top surface of the mask. The mask is removed from the substrate before the conductive paste in the openings dries, thereby leaving a fine pattern of paste lines with a uniform height on the substrate.
Abstract:
A simplified method for photoimaging a photosensitive layer produces in situ a radiation-opaque photomask on the photosensitive layer or on a cover sheet of the layer. A nonvisible latent image is toned and the toner is transferred to a layer or cover sheet to form an actinic radiation-opaque photomask.
