Abstract: A target authentication device includes an electrode to detect an electrical signal associated with a user of the device. The electrical signal represents an authentication code for the device. An authentication receiver module is coupled to the electrode. The module receives the electrical signal from the electrode and determines whether the electrical signal matches a predetermined criterion to authenticate the identity of the user based on the electrical signal. An authentication module is also disclosed. The authentication module includes one electrode to couple an electrical signal associated with a user to a user of a target authentication device, the electrical signal represents an authentication code for the device. An authentication transmission module is coupled to the electrode. The authentication transmission module transmits the electrical signal from the electrode. A method of authenticating the identity of a user of a target authentication device also is disclosed.

Abstract: In embodiments, a wearable medical system (WMS) for an ambulatory patient, which can be a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system, analyzes the patient's ECG signal to generate a detection outcome. The WMS also has an ambulatory user interface that outputs a human-visible indication. A programming device, such as a PC, a tablet, etc., establishes a communication link with the WMS during an in-person session with the patient. The programming device may include a programming screen that reproduces the human-visible indication in real time. An advantage can be that the person programming the WMS need not strain to look also at the ambulatory user interface at the time they are looking at the programming device. Another advantage can be that the patient will recognize that he or she is better protected, and have their confidence in the WMS increased, and therefore better comply with wearing the WMS as required.

Abstract: Wrist-wearable apparatuses that may be removed and used as a chest-applied cardiac device may include two chest electrodes on an inner surface of a strap (or strap regions), as well as two finger or more finger electrodes on the opposite side of the apparatus. The apparatus may be removed from the wrist and placed on a chest of a patient such that two electrodes are spaced at least five centimeters apart and in contact with the chest and held in place with two or more fingers to capture orthogonal cardiac signals that may be synthesized into a conventional 12-lead cardiac signal.

Abstract: Access to a situation report about a patient experiencing a medical event is provided via a short range connection, such as a BLE connection, between a wearable medical device and a communication device of a trained support person. The wearable medical device is worn by the patient and gathers patient data related to the medical event, such as an arrythmia. Patient data are processed into situation information which is formatted for easy translation by the communication device into the situation report. The resulting situation report is accessible by the trained support person via the communication device with relevant information to assist in providing medical support for the patient.
