Abstract: An access node of the wireless communication network determines a configuration of a first search space (210) in terms of first time domain coordinates and first frequency domain coordinates of a time-frequency grid of radio resource elements. Further, the access node determines a configuration of a second search space (220) in terms of second time coordinates and second frequency domain coordinates of the time-frequency grid. The second search space (220) differs from the first search space at least with respect to the time domain coordinates. In radio resource elements of the first search space (210), the access node transmits downlink control information for a first class of radio devices subject to a first timing requirement. In radio resource elements of the second search space (220), the access node transmits downlink control information for a second class of radio devices subject to a second timing requirement which is stricter than the first timing requirement.

Abstract: Embodiments herein include a method in a user equipment (UE) for transmitting uplink control information in time slots of a subframe over a radio channel to a radio base station. The uplink control information is comprised in a block of bits. The UE maps the block of bits to a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE block spreads the sequence across Discrete Fourier Transform Spread—Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFTS-OFDM) symbols. This is performed by applying a spreading sequence to the sequence of complex valued modulation symbols, to achieve a block spread sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE further transforms the block-spread sequence, per DFTS-OFDM symbol. This is performed by applying a matrix that depends on a DFTS-OFDM symbol index and/or slot index to the block-spread sequence. The UE also transmits the block spread sequence, as transformed, over the radio channel to the radio base station.

Abstract: Limited uplink bandwidth radio network devices (30) are supported on wide bandwidth uplink carriers by configuring and controlling the use of multiple control regions within the uplink carrier bandwidth. In some embodiments, the total bandwidth of the uplink carrier is divided into a plurality of sub-band portions, wherein at least one sub-band portion includes at least one control region nominally dedicated to the transmission of uplink control signaling. The control regions may be configured at one or both edges of sub-band portions, or elsewhere within a sub-band portions. Sub-band portions may share a control region. Radio network devices (30) are configured with a specified portion of the uplink carrier bandwidth for use for uplink transmission, which includes at least one control region. The specified portion may comprise an integer number of sub-band portions, or may span only part of one or more sub-band portions. Radio network devices (30) may be dynamically configured to allow or suppress data signaling in control regions.

Abstract: A communication system includes a transmitting communication device and a receiving communication device. Abstract: In an aspect, a wireless device with a plurality of transmitter chains that can be selectively used to transmit a beam-formed signal determines a targeted receive power for the beam-formed signal, with respect to a target receiving device. The wireless device selects a number of the plurality of transmitter chains for forming the beam-formed signal, based on the targeted receive power and based on an estimated power consumption for each of the plurality of transmitter chains. The selection is performed so as to minimize a total power consumption, given the estimated power consumptions. The wireless device transmits a beam-formed signal, using the selected number of the plurality of transmitter chains.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for adaptively determining windowing functions and/or filtering functions in a system that uses multiple multicarrier modulation numerologies. According to one aspect, a method comprises determining (1610) first and second quantities of frequency resources needed for first and second multicarrier modulation schemes, respectively, the first and second multicarrier modulation schemes having first and second subcarrier spacings, respectively, the first subcarrier spacing differing from the second subcarrier spacing; determining (1620) a first windowing function and/or first filtering function, for use with the first multicarrier modulation scheme, based on at least one of the first and second quantities of frequency resources; and transmitting (1630) a multi-mode multi-carrier modulation signal in a frequency band, during the first interval, using the first and second multicarrier modulation schemes and the first and second quantities of frequency resources. Transmitting the multi-mode multi-carrier modulation signal comprises applying the first windowing and/or first filtering function to the first multicarrier modulation scheme.
