    Abstract: An HVAC case for a vehicle including an airflow outlet defining a first outlet area having a first width and a first depth, and a second outlet area having a second width and a second depth. The first outlet area is larger than the second outlet area. A ramped surface is adjacent to the second outlet area. An airflow control door is movable to an open position, a partially closed position in which the airflow control door obstructs airflow through the first outlet area and permits airflow through the second outlet area, and a fully closed position in which the airflow control door obstructs airflow through both the first outlet area and the second outlet area.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger includes a header and a side plate. The header has a face plate that defines a plurality of orifices. The header has a protrusion that extends outward from the header and down such that a gap is formed between the header and the protrusion. An external portion of the protrusion is configured to break away from the header during thermal expansion. The side plate is disposed adjacent to an array of alternating tubes and fins. Each tube extends into one of the orifices of the plurality of orifices. The side plate has an end that is secured to the external portion of the protrusion.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger is provided with a unitary, single-piece structure that can be formed via 3D printing, for example. The heat exchanger includes a main body a plurality of plates stacked and integrally formed with the body. First fluid channels are defined by gaps in the material of the main body, and second fluid channels are defined by gaps in the material of the main body and are stacked with the first fluid channels in alternating fashion, separated by the plates. Each of the first fluid channels are fluidly coupled to two manifolds, and each of the second fluid channels are fluidly coupled to two more manifolds. One of the manifolds has a reduced interior volume to control and normalize fluid flow through the heat exchanger.

    Abstract: A heads-up display (HUD) system for a vehicle is provided. A light source is configured to transmit a light. A mirror is configured to reflect the light toward a window (e.g., windshield) of the vehicle. The mirror has a front reflective surface and a rear reflective surface located further from the light source than the front reflective surface. A controller is programmed to selectively alter a transparency of the front reflective surface. The alteration of the transparency of the front reflective surface enables the front reflective surface to alter between a reflective mode in which the light reflects off the front reflective surface and toward the windshield, and a transparent mode in which the light transmits through the front reflective surface and instead reflects off of the rear reflective surface.

    Abstract: Pulley-movement detection within an alternator or integrated starter/generator (ISG) for a vehicle is provided. The alternator or ISG includes a housing, a stator fixed within the housing, a rotor configured to rotate relative to the stator about an axis, and a shaft coupled to the rotor for rotation about the axis. The alternator or ISG also includes pulley coupled to the shaft at an interface, and configured to engage with a chain or belt to transfer movement between the shaft and the chain or belt. An electrical switch located at the interface is configured to be in a first state when the pulley is axially secured to the shaft, and a second state when the pulley is axially displaced away from the shaft. This can enable signals or warnings to be output in response to the electrical switch changing states, indicating an improper connection at the interface.

    Abstract: An artificial intelligence system for an autonomous vehicle includes one or more processors and a memory in communication with the one or more processors and storing a target-orientated navigation system module. When executed, the target-orientated navigation system module causes the one or more processors to receive sensor data from one or more sensors of a vehicle, synchronize the sensor data, preprocess the synchronized sensor data by transforming the sensor data into a common data format, concatenate the transformed sensor data into a K-dimensional array, which acts as an input state array, apply a navigation policy to the input state array to estimate an action-value array, direct a vehicle control system to guide the vehicle to a location representative of a cell in the action-value array that has a highest reward value.

    Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for communicating data and transmitting information between roadside infrastructure units regarding vehicle data. In some embodiments, the roadside infrastructure units have one or more communication nodes equipped with a wireless transceiver configured to communicate wirelessly with a vehicle such as a dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) or cellular system. Each communication node can also wirelessly communicate with one or more of the other remaining communication nodes in, for example, a mesh network. One of the communication nodes can establish a connection with the vehicle via DSRC, obtain vehicle-specific data, and transmit at least a portion of this vehicle-specific data to one or more other communication nodes in other roadside infrastructure units. The roadside units can change operation state (e.g., illuminate) in response to receive the vehicle-specific data indicating the vehicle approaching that roadside unit.

    Abstract: A feed circuit for feeding an antenna includes: a first coupler including a first pair of opposing conductive elements; a second coupler including a second pair of opposing conductive elements; a third coupler including a third pair of opposing conductive elements; a delay line; first terminals configured to connect to the antenna; second terminals connected to a ground reference; and a feed terminal connected to the first coupler and configured to receive at least one of a transmit signal to be transmitted from the antenna or a combined received signal from the antenna. The first terminals are connected to the second coupler and the third coupler and configured to output a signal at different phases to conductive elements of the antenna. The second terminals are connected to the first coupler, the second coupler and the third coupler.
