    摘要: Photothermographic materials are coated with imaging layers and an antihalation layer between the support and thermally developable imaging layers on one or both sides of the support. Such materials can be arranged in association with one or more phosphor intensifying screens capable of providing emission at a predetermined wavelength in imaging assemblies. These imaging assemblies can be exposed to X-radiation and thereby excited to form a latent image in the photothermographic material that can eventually be used for medical diagnosis. The antihalation layers contain radiation absorbing compounds (such as a UV-radiation absorbing compounds) that absorb radiation at the predetermined wavelength (for example at 300 to 450 nm) and have limited absorption at higher wavelengths.

    摘要: A photosensitive element includes a layer of a photosensitive material on a transparent, multilayer, polymeric support having numerous alternating layers of at least two different polymeric materials. The polymeric multilayer support reflects at least 50% of actinic radiation in the range of wavelengths to which the photosensitive material is sensitive. If the polymeric multilayer reflector includes numerous, thin, alternating layers located at the surface of the polymeric support closest to the photosensitive material, the element not only provides increased speed but also provides an antihalation effect. In another aspect, a multilayer reflector is located a distance removed from the photosensitive layer sufficient to reduce any woodgrain that would otherwise occur, while increasing speed.

    摘要: Optical brighteners are widely used for decreasing the apparent yellowness of polymeric materials. Polyethylene, as a coating film for photographic paper has presented unique problems because of its general lack of compatibility with conventional, large, fluorescent brightener molecules. The present invention provides a solution to this problem by incorporating into the polyethylene an optical brightener compatibilizing amount of a second polyolefin having alkyl groups pendant from the polymer backbone which serves to reduce the exudation of the optical brightener in articles or substrates comprised of or coated with such compositions.
