Abstract: There is provided a controller for receiving input from a user, including: a plurality of input elements, each operating to receive respective operative input from a user, the respective operative input being processed and transmitted to an external apparatus for manipulating an application program during execution; a memory having a plurality of sets of profile data stored therein, each set of profile data includes a respective profile ID in association with respective location information indicative of where a respective one of the input elements is located on the controller; a communication unit operating to receive a user-selected one of the plurality of sets of profile data; and a control unit operating to control the controller based on the selected profile data set received from the communication unit.

Abstract: A controller for receiving input from a user includes: a memory having at least one set of profile data stored therein; a communication unit operating to transmit and receive signals to and from at least one of a game console and a game server; and a control unit operating to control the controller based on the at least one profile data set. The communication unit operates to transmit a list of one or more profile IDs corresponding to the at least one profile data set to the at least one game console and game server. The communication unit receives a selected profile ID, from among the one or more profile IDs, selected by the user from the at least one game console and game server. The control unit reads a profile data set corresponding to the received, selected profile ID, which is stored in the memory. The control unit controls operations of at least one of the controller with respect to the at least one game console and game server in accordance with the profile data.

A display user determining section has a function of determining a user to be included in a display image. When an instruction receiving section receives a changing instruction, the display user determining section changes a user included in the display image. A face image clipping section clips a region including the face image of the determined user from the imaged image. A display image generating section generates the display image including the clipped region.
