According to certain embodiments, an authentication method of an electronic device, comprises responsive to detecting an external electronic device using a first communication circuit, transmitting first data to the external electronic device using a second communication circuit; determining whether a response to the first data is received; and when the response to the first data is received from the external electronic device, performing communication connection and authentication procedures with the external electronic device.

A method and apparatus are to provide status information about a call recipient and information about other users located in a same area as the call recipient. A method for providing information about the call recipient by a user device includes initiating a call transmission to the call recipient; receiving forwarding information corresponding to the call transmission; and outputting information about the call recipient and information about users located in a same area as the call recipient, based on the forwarding information.

The method includes registering contact details of one or more advertisers in a phone book, receiving one or more mobile advertising messages from the registered advertisers, notifying a user of the reception of the mobile advertising messages, and displaying the received mobile advertising messages according to the user's confirmation request.
