Abstract: Provided is a device for transmitting signals, the device including: a first conductive base and a second conductive base parallel to each other, a waveguide at least partially surrounded by side walls located between the first conductive base and the second conductive base and including at least one electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure, and at least two directional antennas opposite to or facing each other in a direction in which signals are transmitted, wherein each antenna is on a printed circuit board and includes another EBG structure located on an upper layer and a lower layer of the printed circuit board and at least one matching element, at least a part of each of the antennas is located inside the waveguide to form a wireless channel configured to transmit electromagnetic signals in an area between the antennas, and the at least one matching element is located within a specified distance of the wireless channel and is configured to match the antenna with the wireless channel.

Abstract: An optically controlled switch includes a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) including: a first port and a second port, the first port and the second port being located at ends of the SIW to input and output an electromagnetic wave; and a shorting via electrically connected to a bottom layer of the SIW and separated from a top layer of the SIW by a dielectric gap. The optically controlled switch includes: a photoconductive element located on the top layer of the SIW and electrically connected to the shorting via and the top layer of the SIW, the photoconductive element being configured to have a dielectric state and a conductor state depending on a state of a controlling light flux; and a cutoff waveguide formed around the dielectric gap and the photoconductive element, and configured to provide control of the photoconductive element from a light source and block parasitic radiation.

The switch device includes: an input point; a first output point; a second output point; a first transmission line connecting the input point to the first output point; a second transmission line connecting the input point to the second output point; a switch unit connected to the first output point; and a third transmission line of which one end is connected to the switch unit and the other end is connected to the second output point, wherein the third transmission line causes a 90-degree phase shift when a signal at an operating frequency is delivered therethrough, the switch unit is controlled to be in an ON or OFF state according to one control signal, opens or grounds each of the first output point and the one end of the third transmission line.
