Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for determining a latency associated with a network application. For instance, an electronic device may receive first data from a first sensor, where the first data indicates that a control device received an input. The electronic device may also receive second data from a second sensor, where the second data indicates a change in content being output by a display device. The electronic device may then determine a first time associated with the control device receiving the input and a second time associated with the display device outputting the change in content. Additionally, the electronic device may determine the latency using the first time and the second time. The electronic device may then provide the latency to a user.

Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for conserving power on an electronic device. For instance, at given time intervals, the electronic device may be sending input data to a network device and receiving audio data from the network device. The electronic device may then use one or more techniques to determine when to switch from operating in a first mode, where the electronic device sends and/or receives the data, to operating in a second mode, where the electronic device ceases sending and/or receiving the data. For example, the electronic device may make the determination based on an amount of data stored in a buffer, whether the electronic device receives data, using data received from the network device, and/or the like. Based on the determination, the electronic device may switch to the second mode in order to conserve power.

Abstract: A stylus provides input via a touchscreen comprising a touch sensor and a display. Latency between placement of a stylus tip and corresponding presentation of visual indicia on the display is reduced or eliminated by determining a predicted path of the stylus tip during a stroke. Visual indicia is presented on the display, based on the predicted path. Inputs from the touch sensor may include hover events associated with detection of the tip while not in contact with the touchscreen and touch events associated with presence of the tip on the touchscreen. A machine learning network may be trained to determine the predicted path. A portion of the network may be trained to accept dynamic-length sequences of events and generate fixed length sequences, reducing subsequent network complexity. A hand may be detected and used to determine the predicted path. The end of a stroke may be predicted, reducing overshoot.

Abstract: Techniques for adaptive predictions of points on a screen are described. In an example, a device predicts a first point to be detected on a screen at a first time. At the first time, the device detects a second point on the screen. The device also predicts a set of points based at least in part on the second point. The set of points includes a third point to be detected on the screen at a second time. Based least in part on the first point and the second point, the device determines a first prediction error. The device also selects the third point from the set of points based at last in part on the first prediction error. Prior to the second time, an output is displayed on the screen at the third point.
