Abstract: Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing capability signaling design for 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) release 15 (Rel-15) and/or release 16 (Rel-16) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) enhancement. For example, systems and methods are provided implementing designs for New Radio (NR) MIMO channel state information (CSI) for a small bandwidth part (BWP) and/or a small number of subbands. For example, some aspects relate to a user equipment (UE) including a transceiver configured to communicate with a base station and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The processor receives, from the base station, a CSI reporting configuration message. The processor determines, using the CSI reporting configuration message, that a number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) of a BWP associated with the CSI reporting configuration message is less than a threshold number. The processor also generates and transmits a CSI report for the BWP.

Abstract: The present application relates to devices and components including apparatus, systems, and methods to perform CSI-reporting. In an example, a BWP includes “M” subbands and is configured to the UE. The UE can process “Kc” CSI-RS samples to generate “M” subband CSI reports, where “Kc>M.” The UE determines what number of CSI-RS samples to use per subband based on the channel information of the BWP, where this number can vary between the subbands.

Abstract: A base station and wireless communication (UE) may perform type II CSI-RS port selection based at least on partial reciprocity between an uplink path and a downlink path between the base station and the UE. The base station may identify dominant signal paths between the base station and the UE, based on measurements performed during uplink transmissions, and may transmit, to the UE, corresponding information indicative of CSI measurement and reporting configuration that may include a single measurement resource or multiple measurement resources. Each measurement resource may include multiple-port CSI-RS ports. The UE may indicate, to the base station, selection of a measurement resource when multiple measurement resources are configured, and may also report layer independent or layer common selection of a subset of CSI-RS ports included in the indicated single measurement resource or multiple measurement resources. Further enhancements include frequency domain compression enhancement and dynamic codebook parameter reconfiguration.

Abstract: An approach is described for a user equipment (UE) to receive a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration message from a source device of a first cell and receive a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) from a second cell via the source device. The UE determines a first number of CSI-RS resources of a first time slot duration corresponding to the first cell, a second number of CSI-RS resources of a second time slot duration corresponding to the second cell, an overall time slot duration based on the first and the second time slot duration, an overall number of CSI-RS resources of the overall time slot duration based at least on the first and the second number of CSI-RS resource, generates a capability report at least based on the overall number of CSI-RS resource, and transmits the capability report to the source device.

Abstract: Enhanced channel state information (CSI) reporting may include encoding a CSI reporting configuration associated with a first transmission and reception point (TRP) and a second TRP. The CSI reporting configuration may include at least one codebook configuration. The at least one codebook may include at least one of a rank restriction configuration or a codebook subset restriction (CBSR) configuration. The at least one of the rank restriction configuration or the CBSR configuration may correspond to at least one of a particular type of TRP measurement, a particular TRP of the first TRP or the second TRP, or channel measurement resources (CMRs) associated with at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP. A CSI measurement communication received from a user equipment (UE) may be decoded. The CSI measurement communication may be based on the decoded CSI reporting configuration.
