A request for a manifest file is received from an electronic device, the manifest file indicating a current version of application resources for loading web content offline. A determination is made if the request includes a first instruction for clearing an application cache on the electronic device, the application cache comprising a stored version of application resources for loading web content offline. In a case where the request includes the first instruction, a second instruction is transmitted to the electronic device, the second instruction for instructing the electronic device to clear the application cache.
