The second chamber collects the developer from the developer carrying member at an opposing position, and a screw member feeds the developer contained in the first and second chambers. In addition, a supplying portion supplies a developer, a discharging portion, provided in the circulation path, causes an excessive developer to overflow, and a controller controls, on the basis of information on a first drive time from a start of rotation of the screw member to an end of a developing operation, a second drive time from the end of the developing operation to a stop of the rotation of the screw member.
