The printing system includes an image processor to rasterize a received print job and to perform a halftone by comparing a first threshold value from a threshold matrix to a first image component sample, comparing the first threshold value to a first number of sequential image component samples neighboring the first sample if the first threshold value is less than the first sample and comparing the first threshold value to a second number of sequential image component samples neighboring the first sample if the first threshold value is greater than or equal to the first sample.
