The terminal device transmits, to a network device, information related to a target TCI state in a first set of TCI states for transmission between the terminal device and the network device. The first set of TCI states is at least partially non-overlapping with a second set of TCI states which have been activated. The target TCI state is outside the second set of TCI states. After that, the terminal device sets at least the target TCI state in the first set of TCI states as activated. As a result, MAC CE activation will not be required. Thus, signaling overhead and latency will be reduced.
