A power source is capable of expelling each projectile from the launcher into a projectile plane. An optical beam generating system is capable of generating a beam array. The beam array includes at least two distinct pattern beams that divergently extend from the launcher at a non-zero angle relative to one another, and a void region formed between the at least two pattern beams, the void region being devoid of any portion of the optical beam.
