The display apparatus includes a display configured to display a user interface including at least one item corresponding to at least one application, wherein, based on an input for selecting the item, an application corresponding to the selected item is executed; and a controller configured to remove digital rights management (DRM) of the at least one application corresponding the at least one item before the input for selecting one of the at least one displayed item is received.
