A device for marking an article with a view to identifying same includes an information display area, a medium for storing the information to be displayed (26), a programmable clock (42), an electrical power supply system (44), a selection element (38, 40, 40a, 22b) for selecting information from the storage medium in order to display same in a display area and an element for attaching the device to the article or packaging thereof, wherein the selection element is enabled at one or more moments programmed into the programmable clock.
