A personal altering device and method of generating an alert of an event detected by an implanted diagnostic device are provided. The method can include transmitting an event signal to the personal alerting device when one or more of the following occurs: ischemia is detected, a deviation from the baseline waveform is detected, a life-threatening trend begins, or symptoms are indicated. The method can also include generating an alarm signal from the personal alerting device, and the alarm signal can include one or more of a visual message, a light, a vibration, and a sound. In addition, the method can include prompting further action to be taken.
