The hypoglycemic agent contains an organic zinc(II) complex having as a ligand a compound selected among aminoalkylpyridines, bis-optically active amino acids, bisaminoalkylcarboxylic acids, oligopeptides, oligopseudopeptides, di-substituted aminocarboxylic acids, α- and β-hydroxycarboxylic acids, vitamins, glutamine derivatives, etc.
