A privacy pad or tablet whereby an individual may make a written of other printed input information on a writing surface and thereafter immediately cover the portion of the writing surface so as to protect the confidentiality, security or privacy of the information from the view of subsequent users of the pad. The covering operation may be manual or may be motorized and automated. Moreover, the motion of the cover may be restricted from unauthorized reversal and resultant observation of the information by a locking means. Lastly, any of the numerous generally planar surfaces of the pad are well suited for and may be utilized for the imprinting of graphical or advertising material for the purposes of advertising or promotion.
