Provided is a communication method, including: receiving, by a first station, a first communication message from a second base station through an X2 interface, where the first communication message carries first device-to-device (D2D) capability information for representing a D2D capability of the second base station; and determining, by the first base station, whether to add the second base station to provide a dual-connectivity service to user equipment based on the first D2D capability information.
