The present invention relates to the field of insect farming, and more particularly to black soldier fly farming equipment with an automatic sorting function and a method of use thereof. The black soldier fly farming equipment comprises two parts, namely a larva chamber and an adult chamber, wherein the larva chamber is connected to the adult chamber through a light-proof channel; a plurality of farming cabinets are arranged in the larva chamber, and isolators are arranged in each farming cabinet; the adult chamber and the larva chamber are provided with egg collectors for collecting eggs, andthe egg collectors are capable of shifting between the adult chamber and the larva chamber by means of a shifter arranged in the adult chamber and the larva chamber. The black soldier fly farming equipment is integrated with the functions of egg collection, black soldier fly farming, larva sorting, and residue collection, and is simple for operation and suitable for large-scale farming of the black soldier flies.
