The ink set is characterized by comprising ink compositions of two colors, a) a magenta ink composition and b) a cyan ink composition which contain a dye, water, and a water-soluble organic solvent, and the ink set is characterized in that a) the magenta ink composition contains a compound represented by formula (1) or a salt thereof.
